WEATHER
Weather is all around us. Weather may be one of the first things you notice after you wake up. If it is cold and snowing, you_ll wear a jacket when you go outside. If it_s hot and sunny, you may wear shorts. Weather describes whatever is happening outdoors in a given place at a given time. Weather is what happens from minute to minute. The weather can change a lot within a very short time. For example, it may rain ffor an hour and then become sunny and clear. Weather is what we hear about on the television news every night. Weather includes daily changes in precipitation, barometric pressure, temperature, and wind conditions in a given location. The air, or atmosphere, around us behaves in different ways. It changes when it_s hot or cold, and when it_s wet or dry. It acts differently when it_s calm or stormy, and clear or cloudy. Meteorologists record the weather every day. The constant rrecording of weather information helps to determine the climate of an area. There are several different methods that can be used to create a forecast. It is vital that weather forecasts be as accurate as possible because so many people ddepend upon them. Almost all weather conditions begin because of the sun. The sun provides the energy to raise temperatures, and the uneven warming (water warms slower than soil and soil in the shadows warms slower than soil in the sun) triggers movement of air. Meteorologist make their forecasts, one and two days before, by observing weather conditions at the moment, putting it into a computer model, and then fine-tuning the results. Practice is very important, but they still miss some forecasts. In the atmosphere (sky) there are many small differences in sunny and cloudy days. Temperature can be different, humidity is very different, wind direction changes, and there is usually something to trigger a change, like a weather front —— cold or warm — along with the clouds. It can sometimes be to difficult to see the small changes, but a careful, very detailed observation will usually spot the difference doubt we will ever be able to fully control the weather. To do so meteorologist would have to understand the sky, the oceans, and all the effects of geography like the height of mountains and many other events. Being a meteorologist is always interesting. No two days are ever aan exact repeat, so there is no boredom.
