In some countries people starve to death because they haven’t got any food at all – but in some other countries people have health problems, because they have eaten too much and get overweight.

The British have in fact always imported food from abroad. English kitchen, like the English language, observed ingredients from all over the world – chickens, rabbits, apples and tea. All of these and more were successfully incorporated into British dishes. However, World War II changed everything. WWartime women had to forget 600 years of British cooking, learn to do without foreign imports, and rations their use of home-grown food. So now Britain has a very bad reputation for food, there some dishes which are very good: meat pies, roast beef and Your shire pudding. Traditional English people have three meals a day- breakfast, lunch and dinner. Breakfast is served in the morning. It used to be a very large meal with cereal, eggs, bacon, sausages, mushrooms aand tomatoes. Today, Britain’s most popular breakfast consist of lighter meal of cereal and toast and marmalade, fruit juice and yogurt with a cup of coffee or tea.

Most Indian cuisine is related by the similar usage of spices and the uuse of a greater variety of vegetables than many other cuisines. Religions and caste restrictions, weather, geography and the impact of foreigners have affected the eating habits of Indians. Many Indian dishes require an entire day’s preparation of cutting vegetables, pounding spices on a stone or just sitting patiently by the fire for hours on end. On the other hand, there are simple dishes, which are ideal for every day eating. Most of the spices used in Indian food have been used for their medicinal properties in addition to the flavor and taste they impact.
